The Faculty of Common Law at the University of Ottawa has a variety of clubs that you can join. Whether you’re looking to join a group of people that share your interests, want to expand your knowledge or just looking to make connections, there is a club for everyone. Until the 2020-2021 ratification process completes, check out the list of clubs from the previous academic year: Clubs

Interested in joining a club?

If you are looking to join a club you will need contact them directly. Please click here (hyperlink to page with all the clubs) for a full list of clubs under the AÉCLSS.

Interested in creating a club?

Don’t see a club that fits your needs? You can apply to create a new club! Any student who wishes to start a club is encouraged to review the AÉCLSS Policy manual 2 : Clubs for a more detailed description of the requirements. 

However, here is a brief look at what you will need:

1.     The name of the proposed club;

2.     The signatures of at least twenty (20) general members, or ten (10) members in the case of a cultural club, who shall form the initial membership of the club;

3.     The names and student numbers of at least three (3) founding club executives;

4.     A dedicated club email address, which clearly identifies the club in question

5.     A bilingual Constitution which includes those elements specified in section 8 of Policy Manual 2 : Clubs (see below);

6.     A proposed budget

7.     A written statement outlining the mandate of the proposed club, and the ways in which it will contribute to the law student community

All this information must be submitted using the AÉCLSS club ratification package (currently getting updated – will be available soon! Until then please email information to vpclubsl.aeclss@uottawa.ca).
